OK – I started this question with about 4 paragraphs of info, which is too much. So, I want to leave Chiang Mai during the smokey season of March and April. I can afford to spend no more than 500 baht per night at a hotel/guesthouse/beach hut, but it must be reasonably quiet, have a decent bed, screens on the windows, and a private bathroom. I’ve heard that many go to Nong Khai that time of year, but I think it would get boring there after a week. A beach location would be nice. I’ve already been to Pattaya and Hua Hin. There are a lot of places I could go, but I also want to go only to places that I might also consider for a permanent residence. Any serious ideas?
